Discord

DragonWriter has a members-only community Discord. Linking your Discord account joins you to the server automatically and connects it to your DragonWriter account, so the bot's personal commands know who you are.

Linking your account

Open your account settings and, on the General tab, find the Discord section. Select Connect Discord and join. You are sent to Discord to approve the connection, and on your return you are added to the server. It works with any Discord account and does not need to match the email you log in with. Each Discord account can be linked to only one DragonWriter account.

The Discord section only appears once an admin has set the feature up, so if you do not see it, it is not yet available.

Unlinking your account

In the same Discord section, select Disconnect Discord. This removes your access to the members' channels and clears the link from your account. You can reconnect later at any time.

Role sync

Connecting adds you to the server and gives you the member role that unlocks the members-only channels. Disconnecting removes that access again.

Self-assignable roles

Some roles are self-assignable from within Discord. Where the server offers them, you can use the role buttons to add or remove a role from yourself; the change applies to your Discord membership. Which roles are on offer is configured by an admin.

What an admin configures

Beyond setting up the connection, an admin also configures the server-wide automation:

  • announcements posted to the server for new stories, forum posts and challenges
  • results posted when a group sprint finishes

Group sprints themselves are covered in sprints — you can join a sprint straight from Discord once your account is linked.
