Forum

The forum is DragonWriter's community discussion board. You need to be logged in to read or post, so nothing here is visible to the public web.

Categories

The forum is organised into a fixed set of categories, plus a read-only Graveyard for archived threads:

  • Announcements โ€” news and updates from the team. Only staff can start threads here, and it takes no replies.
  • Bug reports and suggestions โ€” report something broken or share an idea.
  • Writing โ€” craft, feedback and everything about writing.
  • Off topic โ€” anything else.
  • Graveyard โ€” archived threads, kept for reference. It is read-only, so nothing new can be posted there.

The category names, descriptions and web addresses (slugs) you see are set by an admin, so they may differ from the defaults above.

Browsing threads

The forum index lists every category with its thread count and when it last had activity. A number badge on a category, and a dot beside a thread, mark threads with new activity you have not read yet. Opening a thread clears its unread mark.

Inside a category, threads are listed newest-activity-first and split into pages. Use the Per page control to choose how many threads to show at once; your choice is remembered. There is also a search box that matches your words against thread titles and post text within that one category.

Reading and replying

Open a thread to read its posts in order. The opening post is marked OP, and staff members carry a role pill (Moderator or Admin) beside their name. Each author's name and avatar link to their profile.

To reply, scroll to the box at the bottom of the thread, write your message using the rich-text editor, and select Post reply. Replies are disabled in the Announcements and Graveyard categories, and in any thread that has been locked or archived.

To start a new thread, open a category and select New thread, then give it a title and write the first post.

Subscribing

When you start a thread you are automatically subscribed to it. On any thread that accepts replies, use the bell button near the title to subscribe or unsubscribe. While subscribed, you get a notification whenever someone posts a new reply. Subscribing is not offered in the no-reply categories, since there is nothing to be notified about.

Your posts and activity

Two buttons on the forum index open your personal views:

  • My posts โ€” everything you have posted, newest first, each linking back to the thread.
  • Recent activity โ€” the threads you have most recently opened.

Editing and deleting your own posts

Use the pencil icon on your own post to edit it. An edited post is stamped with the time it was changed. Editing the opening post of a thread also lets you change the thread title. You cannot edit a post once the thread is locked or archived, or once the post has been removed by staff.

There is no self-delete for a single post; removing posts is a staff action (below). To take part discreetly, you can also flag someone else's post to bring it to staff attention.

Thread-owner and staff actions

Some controls appear only for moderators and admins, shown as icon buttons near the thread title:

  • Lock (moderators and admins) โ€” stops any further replies. Unlocking reopens the thread.
  • Archive (admins) โ€” moves the thread into the Graveyard, where it becomes locked and read-only.
  • Delete thread (admins) โ€” permanently removes the whole thread and all its posts. This cannot be undone.
  • Delete post (moderators and admins) โ€” removes a single post with a reason, which is shown in place of the post. The author is notified.
