Leaderboards
A leaderboard is a shared word race. You send people a join code, and everyone's cumulative word count appears as a line on the same chart, ranked in a standings table. Leaderboards count words added, so a day spent revising still counts and cannot cost you your place.
Leaderboards live on a tab of the goals and statistics screen — open /goals and select the Leaderboards tab.
Creating a leaderboard
Select Create leaderboard and fill in a name, a word-count target, a start and end date, and your own colour. Once it exists you get a join code to share with the people you want on it. There are limits on how many boards you can own and how many you can be on at once.
Joining and leaving
Select Join leaderboard and enter a join code someone sent you. You are given a free colour on that board, which you can change afterwards. Each board holds a fixed maximum number of writers.
To drop out of a board, select Leave on its card. This removes your line and your place in the standings and frees your colour for someone else.
Choosing your colour
Each writer on a board has a unique colour. Use the colour picker on the board's card to change yours to any colour not already taken, then select Change colour.
Editing and saving
If you created a board, an Edit leaderboard section lets you change its name, target and dates, then Save leaderboard. Some limits apply: once a board has started its start date is fixed, and the end date can only ever be moved later, never earlier.
Sharing the join code
Only the board's creator sees the join code and can regenerate it. Select New code to generate a fresh one; the old code stops working immediately, which is how you remove access for anyone you no longer want on the board.
Archiving
Once a board has finished (its end date has passed), select Archive to tuck it away. Archived boards are listed under a separate Archived leaderboards fold and are no longer charted. Select Unarchive to bring one back. For a board that is still running, use Leave rather than archive.
Exporting results
- Export CSV downloads the full daily figures and final totals as a spreadsheet file.
- Export PNG saves the chart as an image.
Abandoned and orphaned leaderboards
If the creator of a board deletes their account, or everyone leaves, the board can be left orphaned or empty. These are cleaned up by admins — an admin can reassign an orphaned board to one of its remaining writers, or delete a board nobody is on any more.
