Your library and folders
Your library is the home screen you land on after logging in. It shows every story you own as a grid of cover cards, and it is where you create new stories, organise them into folders, and edit their details.
The library home
Each story appears as a cover card showing its title, author, current status, and small badges for how it is shared (on your profile, published to the public library, open for beta reading, or in live collaboration). Cards are sorted with the most recently updated first. Click a card to open that story's structure screen.
A short usage line under the heading shows how many stories you have against your limit, and how much image storage you have used.
Two tabs sit at the top of the library:
- My stories โ the stories you own (the default view).
- Shared with me โ stories other people have shared with you, either as an editor (collaboration) or as a beta reader. This tab also has boxes for entering an invite code to join a new story in either role.
Searching and filtering
The search bar filters your own stories. Type in the title box and submit to match by title. The funnel button opens the rest of the filters:
- Author โ pick one of the authors used across your stories.
- Genre โ tick one or more genres; a story matches if it has any of them.
- Status โ tick one or more of Plan, Draft, Edit, or Done.
- Sharing & collaboration โ limit to stories shared on your profile, published to the library, open for beta reading, or in live collaboration.
Click Apply filters to reload with your choices, or Clear to reset. While a search or filter is active it spans your whole library, so folders are set aside until you clear it.
Folders
Folders group related stories. At the root of your library, each folder appears as its own coloured card above the story grid; click one to see just the stories inside it. A story sits in at most one folder, and stories with no folder stay at the root.
Open the Manage folders panel below the grid to organise them. There you can:
- Create a folder by giving it a name and a colour.
- Rename a folder or change its colour, then Save.
- Delete a folder. Its stories are never lost โ they move back to the root.
To put a story into a folder (or move it out), edit the story and choose a folder from the Folder menu (see below).
Creating a story
Click New story. If story templates are switched on for the site you can choose between:
- A blank story โ fill in the details yourself.
- From a template โ click Start from a template to browse the gallery, Preview any template to see exactly what it includes, then Choose this. The template's structure, notes, characters, and locations are scaffolded into your new story, and you can change anything afterwards. See story templates.
Editing a story's details
Open a story and click Edit metadata (or Delete from the same page). The edit form covers:
- Title (required) and Author(s).
- Genres, a free-text Date (any era or format), and comma-separated Tags.
- Status โ Plan, Draft, Edit, or Done.
- Folder โ which folder the story belongs to, or the root.
- Cover colour and cover pattern, with a live preview. Leave the colour blank to have one auto-assigned from the palette.
Cover images are uploaded from the edit page of a saved story (not while creating one). See covers and images for the full picture.
Deleting a story
Deleting a story moves it to the Recycle Bin rather than removing it immediately, so you can restore it later. Folders and templates are deleted permanently, but stories always get the safety net.
Getting started checklist
New accounts see a Getting started card at the top of the library with a few setup suggestions โ starting your first story, setting your timezone, choosing notification preferences, adding a bio and picture, and joining the community. Each row has an action button, or you can hide it with the cross. The whole card disappears once every row is either done or hidden.
